Heat Pump – First Six Months

Our heat pump was installed in December, so I’ve got figures for the first six months of the year. We live in a five-bedroom, detached house that was built around 1990; it’s the same type you see on housing estates right across the country. We made sure that the loft we properly insulated, and we have double glazing. We don’t have gas anymore; we only use electricity. We have solar panels and a home battery.

In the first six months of the year, we purchased £281 of electricity. This is for everything… heating, hot water, cooking, lighting, washing, drying, IT, TV, everything. If the second half of the year mirrors the first, our total energy bill will be £562 for the year.

For comparison, for the last twelve months of gas we used, it cost £1,187, and that was just for heating and hot water.

Also, thanks to the heat pump, our house is constantly warm, and the temperature never changes. It’s very comfortable.
